Rounding up the troops! (The girls showed up an hour early in their fathers' and brothers' soccer jerseys, more than ready for a day of sports) Views[6] The sports day was part of a new (and hopefully ongoing) program that I'm working on with the local social worker for young girls in the community to boost their self-esteem, leadership skills, and overall health Views[8] ... and of course, good sports(wo)manship! Views[7] The girls rarely get the chance to play proper games of soccer on the pitch, as it's usually seen as a man's sport (but when asked what they wanted to play, they all said soccer) Views[6] The winning team, all smiles and attitude Views[8]

... they'll plant two seeds in each can and water daily over the summer holidays... Views[6] ... one will be their responsibility (their 'baby tree')... Views[11] ... and the other will be for a family member to take care of... Views[12] ... and when the kids come back to school in January, we'll hold a big community tree planting day!
