We were a little late getting up this morning and so it was 8.20am before we were on the road. We drove through Oamaru and stopped at Timaru at the Botanical Gardens for a toilet break and a cuppa. It is after 11am when we leave and it is a good 2 hours to Christchurch. The GPS took us through the city centre with plenty of road works, closed roads, due to the earthquakes rebuilt etc which meant I had to keep changing course. We finally arrived at Aotea Hotel on Bealey St and checked into our 2 bedroom unit. It is very comfortable. After lunch we walked to a close supermarket for dinner supplies. Other than this it was a quiet afternoon resting after 5 hours in the car.
