We woke up to a clear crisp morning with the mountain tops visible across the lake. It is 2C. We decided to walk into town to meet Gary and Lea. It only took 12min and was downhill for most of the way. Mum is concerned about walking back up the big hills. We went along the mall and ran into Dwayne and Irma who were meeting a friend for coffee. We met Gary and Lea and went for a coffee at Starbucks where we ran into Anne and her kids. We then wondered around a few shops before we ran into Tracey and Brian. Gary and Lea headed off to find the supermarket whilst mum and I went to the souvenir shop where mum got some gifts for friends at home. We then decided to head home and thought we would walk the higher road which would be less hills. It meant we had to climb the steep stairs to Main Street. When we got to the top I told mum to wait there and I would go and get the car and pick her up so we could go to the supermarket out of town. She was waiting at the road to the gondolier and saw many people walking and driving. After shopping we headed home for lunch and then decided to drive to Arrowtown to have a look at this quaint town. It was a gold mining town in the 1860’s and many Chinese came and worked the mines. There was several replica buildings of their homes and of the store. The town itself is made up of historical buildings and tiny miners cottages. The Arrow River is said to be the second biggest gold producing river after the Nukon. From here we headed back to Queenstown but stopped at the Jet Boat operation, Stopover Jet that operates in the river canyons. We watched the boats and the many tourists that were keen for a ride for half an hour. It cost $135 pp for a 5 minute ride. We rested for the rest of the afternoon before having dinner and then heading out for Ebony’s meet and greet at Eichardts Hotel. It was held in the Parlour room upstairs where there was a fire burning. It was a pleasant evening chatting and mingling with other guests and family members.
