Day 28 – 28th May 2015 Thursday – HoiAn

Neither of us slept well. So I was up and off for a walk to the central market. I took some photos of the river and boats. Also some of the ladies in the market. I stopped at the pots and pans shop to buy 2 mugs. During breakfast Mr Dung came up on the motorbike carrying a couple of gifts / prizes that his daughter had won at school for outstanding performance. One was a fan and the other looks like a desk lamp. Their son only got one prize – 20 writing books and some white material. Poor little bugga. Kevin went off to the beach – time 16 min 28 sec and complained of the head winds. I decided to park in the “no parking” area at Soul Kitchen like all the expats do. I met a couple of Canadian women Monika and Jean Ann who have just returned to HoiAn from selling their home in Vancouver. They have lived in HoiAn at Tan Phuong Homestay at 71 Thich Wuang Duc web tanphounghomestay-HoiAn for 4 years. Monika gave me her phone no 01236971620 and invited me to come and look at there apartment. I have met Monika 2 years previously  when I went to see Sussie at the furniture apartments. While swimming I also got talking with a lady, Jodi who is an Aneathisist near New York. She was travelling on her own and I ended up inviting her to join us for dinner Friday night. We also invited the Canadian ladies to our favourite restaurant.  Monika was a chef and she does food tours in Vietnam twice a aye covering the North through to the South. Kevin had chatted with an English couple Sid and Lorrie who had only eaten in the hotel and large expensive restaurants. Kevin told them about Pho Xua and I went over to give them the address and directions. They were an older couple who obviously we're quite wealthy and a little snobby. A breeze change occurred just prior to us leaving the beach for a late lunch. I lazed away the afternoon while Kevin went into town on the bike to change some money at the gold shop. The rate has again dropped – VND 16,900 to A$1. Kevin has to collect his shirts and sun glasses tomorrow. We went again to Vang and Duc’s for dinner – chicken spring rolls and a chicken noodle and cabbage dish. Both were very nice. Unfortunately the beer was not cold and very unpleasant to drink. We only stayed an hour and then headed back. I watched a little TV and then went to bed.

Check out our photos if you haven't already.
