Day 145 16th September 2014 Tuesday. The sun was shining. We decided to try our luck fishing early so we headed off at 7am along the beach. Unfortunately it was not a time for catching fish. We had very few bites and no fish. We headed back and I then put on the generator and recharged the caravan battery again. I also ran the car to boost the Thumper battery. One of the other vanners Vida a lady from NZ gave me her memory stick to copy which has even more kindle books than I already have. After lunch dad suggested we go even earlier and so we headed off at 1.30pm. I again had success and caught 2 x 69cm Australian Salmon. The first was within 15min of arriving and I had just thrown my line in and it bit. The next was an hour later and I had been holding the rod as we were losing lots of baits and not seeing the bites with the rods in the holders. It nibbled and then struck. Again it was a thrill bringing both into the beach and mum who had come with us today had the camera out and was taking photos of me trying to wind the fish in. Unfortunately dad didn’t get any fish today. We gave the fish to the family in the bus and also to a family who came walking along the beach and had pulled into the camp last night. Dad even filleted the fish for both families. When we got back I started packing away my gear ready for our long trip tomorrow.
