Day 51 – 13th June 2013 Friday. Windy day today. Left at 9.00 am to pick up battery, get the gas bottle filled and collect the shade for the off side. Once we had done all the chores we went to Town Beach at Roebuck Bay to check out the situation for Staircase to the Moon which is later tonight. The tide was right up high on the beach and was very rough. Looked at the Pioneers cemetery. From here we headed to the deep water Port of Broome. We walked out to the end of the jetty and there was a boat being loaded with huge pipes. We went around to Entrance Point bot launching area and had view up the coast line. We then went to Gantheaume Point where there is a lighthouse and in low tide Dinosaur Footprints from millions of years ago. Unfortunately we have high tide and so we walked around the clifftops and watched some girls cliff jump into the water. I was thinking to myself …..’Havent they seen the TV show “”what can happen in Bali ……….””’ Obliviously not!!! After lunch we caught up with Jamie and Chris to discuss their upcoming trip to Vietnam. We headed to Town beach for Staircase to the Moon and the night markets - a natural phenomenon when the full moon rises over the exposed mudflats at Roebuck Bay at extremely low tide creating an optical illusion of a staircase reaching to the moon. It was crowded. I decided to heat out onto the mudflats and fight for a camera position. Took some amazing photos. Kevin missed it all as from his seat he couldn’t see the mudflaps and the moon.
