    The man himself, Leonard Knight. With a calling from God in his head and more drive than I've ever seen by one man he has created a piece of roadside Americana art that is not rivaled by many. by: waynerd Views[201] An old truck and shade structure with a bed, both used as areas of refuge from the hot desert sun for by Leonard when needing a break during his building. by: waynerd Views[328] Outside an unfinished section of the mountain are the paints used by the artist, Leonard Knight. by: waynerd Views[187] Inside the mountain are hallways and passages that at times resemble a maze, all adorned with messages to and from god. by: waynerd Views[221] Salvation Mountain is one man's massive independent art piece in the desolate Imperial Valley area of California. Built of hay bales, donated wood, adobe, donated paint and a calling from God. I'm not a religious person but one can only appreciate the determination required to single handedly create this man made mountain. Quite a sight to see. by: waynerd Views[933]
