WE STRUCK A GOOD DEAL ON THE RV AND TRUCK — I traded them for five magic beans. Only kidding! And we hope there isn’t going to be a giant in our future. Like Jack, we are setting off on another adventure, one without a beanstalk and no end in sight.
We had hoped to sell the Keystone Cougar and Ford F-150 as a package deal to someone who would enjoy them as much as we had. As a back-up I also listed the 5th wheel and truck separately on CraigsList. Despite the thousands-upon-thousands in inventory on RV lots, three people replied for the RV almost immediately. Jim, the first guy to see it bought it on sight for full price with no quibbling. He even agreed to let us live in it until the end of June!

It took longer to sell the truck — don’t ask me why — we thought it would be the other way around. In fact we had just resigned ourselves to selling it back to the dealer at a wholesale price when the CL listing got a nibble. Full asking price again, but Kris wanted immediate delivery so we rented a car in the meantime and delivered the truck to his door. But we sold both for our most optimistic price, nearly half of what we spent 3½ years ago. We didn't get a giant's treasure or even a golden egg, but our bank account is fatter and we are happy to be unencumbered.
Now we are "homeless" again, all our possessions are tucked in a wheelie bag and a day pack each. Between stays at the Buckley AFB Air Force Inn, the best deal in Denver, we'll be driving our rental — a funny looking KIA Soul — up to South Dakota to re-estblish our residency status and renew our drivers licenses . Then we’ll be clickety-clacking our way to LA and Seattle. All Aboard!
