Thursday, March 31st was my last
day with the children at Tho Trang. I was going to stay a little longer but
there is another volunteer coming for three weeks and I felt like there would
be too many adults. They really don’t need any help but it was very nice to be
a part of their program for a while. So I have decided to move on. They had a
really nice going away party for me and one of the boys who usually didn’t like
to listen to me said “That’s too bad” when he found out that I was
leaving. Suong’s granddaughter became
really attached to me and was very sad when she found out I was leaving and
kept wanting to know when I was coming back. It really wasn’t too hard to communicate with the children
even though they didn’t know much English except for a few songs. They could
usually point or motion to me what they wanted or what they wanted me to do but
I soon found out when they were doing something they shouldn’t be doing; of
course, they acted like they couldn’t understand me!
