Life is delicious!, as my
driver says. I started the day out by meeting my camel at the stables and
riding in the back way of the Giza pyramids. This was a great way to first see
the pyramids on the back of a camel on the desert side of the pyramids rather
than on the front side amongst the hundreds of tourists. The pyramids are so
massive and amazing! I can’t even describe how it felt to be amongst them.
Being here is like being in another world. I have also learned so much Egyptology but none of it well
enough to retell. But it was all very interesting to listen to. Next, I went to Memphis where a huge
statue of Ramses II is housed along with several other statues. Then, I went to
Sakkara to see the first pyramid that was built and also the funeral chambers
that one time had 42 columns with statues on top. I also visited a Papyrus store and was shown how the papyrus
paper is made. They sell beautiful paintings, which are painted directly on the
papyrus paper.
