Mohammed Ali Mosque

Mohammed Ali Mosque

Today, I visited the Citadel where the mosque of Mohamed Ali is and also a few Christian churches in Old Cairo.  The Mohamed Ali mosque is unique because it was built in the Turkish style and takes after the Blue Mosque in Turkey.  I also went to the Egyptian museum where there is a huge collection from the tomb of Tut-Ankamon, a king who died at the age of 19. He had been named king when he was 9 years old.  It was amazing all the things that were buried with him. The museum was incredible; so many things that have been collected, many, many tombs and sculptures. It’s too bad I wasn’t able to take some pictures. Cairo is very picturesque with all the mosques spreading throughout the city. To me, you could call Cairo the cement city. Everything here is built out of rock and cement.  I will put a few more descriptions on the pictures explaining a little bit more.
