Enjoying more wine

I am in wine country. Well actually all of Argentina really is, as the wine is found everywhere, but the vast majority is made in a place called Mendoza, where I am now, at the foot of the Andes.

I have loved being in Mendoza. Although the town itself is a bit boring, I have had a great time in the hostel. It is probably my favourite so far. (http://www.laohostel.com/index.php?leng=en)

ON Monday,it was a public holiday and the whole hostel sat around drinking wine, and having a BBQ. It was lovely, as the sun was shining and lots of goodness was had by everyone. It was definitely the day of coincidences, as this guy turns to me and says ¨do you remember me¨and I did! Him and his girlfriend stayed with me in the Jailhouse a couple of weeks before I left. Craziness! We got on really well,so that was cool.

Tuesday, a big group of us (about 12 had decided to go to the nearby wine region and visit the wineries). Basically this consisted of hiring bikes(from this wonderful guy Mr Hugo) and then cycling along the narrow roads to the vineyards (and also an olive grove and a chocolateria). Wobbling slightly more as the day wore on, I was most amused to find myself back at Mr Hugo´s driveway, in one piece and with more wine deposited on the table. A taxi back ensured our safety, but it really was a beautiful day riding along, every so often looking up at the mountains and thinking ¨that´s the Andes right there!¨
