Yemen’s capital is one of the longest continuously inhabited cities in the world, and also one of the highest with an altitude of 2200 meters. Walking through the old city of Sana’a, an UNESCO World Heritage Site, is like stepping into a fairytale with its gingerbread castles made of burned brick towers.

Yemen is a country of tribal and traditional views and it is ranked last in the Global Gender Gap Index, an index measuring equality for women when it comes to economics, education, politics and health. However, some progress has been made in support of women’s rights with the internationally brokered political transition.
