Scorpion Mountain, WA - First Winter Hike
USA | Tuesday, 13 November 2007 | Views [2624]
First winter hike of the season in Washington with snow about 3,000 feet. We went out to do a 5 hour hike along Johnson Ridge to Scorpion Mountain in the Glacier Peaks region about 2 hours outside Seattle. Beautiful day, light snow falling, about 4-6 inches of very dry snow on the trail and on the mountains. A bit of a sketchy drive up the access road which was totally covered by the time we got to the top with steep drop next to the road.
The Washington Trails Association (WTA) has guides and trip reports for all of Washington's many trails at www.wta.org including this one: http://www.wta.org/~wta/cgi-bin/wtaweb.pl?3+tg+fetch+english+1157
