Hindu temple to the god of nature in Nadi

Hindu temple to the god of nature in Nadi

BULA loved ones!  Bula is the greeting in Fiji, which means "cheers" or literally "life".  I said it with gusto from day one. I know Jerad wrote about our visit to Fiji, I just wanted to throw in a detail or two.  Yes, the airline lost my bag, which wasn't too bad of a loop in our trip.  We did do a little shopping in Nadi town for a swimsuite and wrap for myself, which was a necessity.  We enjoyed some of the local curry dishes and lurked outside the gate of a Hindu temple, which we could not visit because we ate meat that day (darn that yummy chicken curry).  We were ok with not going in because the temple honored the god of nature and we felt like we were already communicating with him out at the resort in the mountains, in the throws of the Cyclone.  Which, by the way, I thought was awesome.  The Stoney Creek Resort was a slice of paradise for us.  It had some of the best scenery I have ever enjoyed, right outside our private room that was justly named The Love Shack. Jerad and I made our first traveling friends (yay).  We bonded with a couple from Maine, chatting and laughing with them for hours in the beautiful pool and at dinner over wine, great food, candles, and wind like you wouldn't believe.  The whole experience was pretty surreal.  All in all it was a perfect Fiji trip that truly fed my soul.  We have booked most of our visit here in NZ, which is packed full of wild, thrill seeking activities and some serious nature hikes, which should make for a great blog and some silly pics.  Thinking of you all and sending some Bula energy your way...though it may take almost a day to get there:).

Happily,

Amber Allison

Add another WOW! Thank you so much for the blogs. Having been to FiJi and New Zeland we can relate to much of what you say and it is a wonderful reminder of good days. I (Gpa) have been thru a couple of Cyclones in that part of the world and I know how awsome they can be -- especcially at sea! Super pictures. Have a ball - We both love you. G & G

I finally got caught up with you two and your adventures! It sounds like fun and its funny how the out of the ordinary things that happen end up making the highlights of the trip! I love this blog thing! All is well here, cookies are in the oven and Joe is finally getting a new TV! I think it is the first one we have ever bought together. D and M have moved to Sherwood and they are probably going to sell the house on Yamhill. SGS still puts her hand behind her back when she does a monkey! :-) Love you to pieces. Mom

Hi, how are you? Are you safe? Are you happy?
I'm convinced that whoever created "blogs", must have had their mother in mind. Reading your journals and enjoying the photo gallery (many times over) makes me feel that you are closer than you really are!
I'm looking forward to hearing about your NZ adventures so far. O.K. to be honest, I'm checking 2, sometimes 3 times a day. What's a mother to do when I can't call you guys?
All my love
Mom
