Carabao were most likely brought to the island during the Spanish occupation. Today, they symbolize Chamorro culture and are seen in parks, villages and on ranches. This shot was taken at a park that has been neglected- hence the missing information sign.

Located in the south, this fruit stand accepts WIC, or Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children, vouchers. Over 8,000 infants and children are dependent on the program on Guahan. This stall owner says he rarely gets customers who seek fresh fruits and vegetables. More business occurs at the 'quick marts' further down the road near the gas station. Signs for cigarettes and beer advertisements cover the front of the store.

This desserted Gun Club is located in the heart of the elite shopping district of Tumon Bay, which is also a 'reserve'. High end shops line the wide streets, while busses of Japanese Tourists visit the highly airconditioned duty free stores. There is no sign of what Tumon village used to look like or any links to Chamorro culture.
