I am a peacemaker and student who believes that photography can foster collaboration, understanding and tolerance worldwide. I began my global learning with Semester at Sea, aboard a ship and floating campus for 100 days while sailing around the world. Accompanied by multicultural professors and practical peacemakers, the global curriculum in conjunction with the unparallel experience confirmed my drive to create positive change in the world. Ten years later, I completed my Masters in Peace Studies in Australia, and my thesis: the Role of Photography in Post-Conflict Settings. I researched the contribution of images of within peacebuilding processes, analyzed the visual documentation of the transition from conflict to establishing peace through activities and programs. I come from privilege, which comes with a responsibility. I have been fortunate enough to continue to travel extensively, am now ready to take the written research regarding the power of photography and put it into action. With support from this scholarship, I will combine my peacemaking abilities with the power of photography, and visual story-telling to create a more peaceful future.
