Jolly Old London

Michelle and I left DC yesterday and took an overnight flight to London.  We didn’t get much sleep on the plane, and England time is ahead of DC time, so we basically lost a whole night and are now severely sleep deprived.  But no worries, we’re tough girls and we can handle it.  Louise’s super sweet friend Victoria met us at Heathrow, with a sign with our names and everything, and took us into the city.  We walked around a nice artsy area for a while, but since it was so early all the stores were closed, so instead we took the tube to the southern bank of the Thames.  We passed the Globe Theater and walked around the Tate Modern a bit before ending up at Wagamama’s, a noodle chain in London that Louise apparently loved while she lived here.  Michelle and I had been pretty tired the entire day, and my back was killing me from my daypack (this is my daypack, mind you, NOT my much heavier backpack...uh oh…), but we held it together…until we got to Wagamama’s.  Maybe it was the lack of sleep, the long flight, the super enthusiastic Italian waiter named Pablo, or simply the relief of sitting and the anticipation of eating a warm meal (it’s damn cold in London!), but we both started to lose it and regress into an hysterical state of craziness.  And yes, I broke out my tape recorder and recorded some of it.  I hope we didn’t scare our new best British friend Victoria too much.  Then we took the tube back to Heathrow (and slept for the majority of the ride), and now we’re waiting for our gate to be announced so we can fly to Johannesburg.  So exciting!  And I’m so tired!  And I paid 4 pounds for 45 minutes of internet at the airport! And everyone around me has a British accent!
