When someone is hungry ... this is not a lack of food, this is the lack of justice Over the past 5 years more people died of hunger than were killed as a result of wars, revolutions and murders for over the past 150 years. Every minute 76 human beings, including 57 children die as a result of hunger or malnutrition. According to data presented by FAO 945 million people suffered from chronic hunger in 2010. To cover the unmet needs of the world in terms of food, just $13 billion is needed - as much as people in the US and the European Union spend on perfume each year.

All it takes to change someone's world is a bit of passion and a little time.

For thousands of students in South Africa, the lack of food can diminish concentration, erode willpower and strip away the potential greatness of a child. High levels of unemployment, underemployment and homelessness have led to an increase in the levels of poverty and hunger across South Africa. Educators recognize that hungry children do not concentrate well. With limited resources schools provide their pupils with breakfast and lunch every day. For some learners, these will be the only meals they will have

A visit to Soweto near Johannesburg makes it painfully clear that nowadays people inhabiting our planet are living in two completely different worlds. On the one hand, the culture of consumerism and, therefore, of luxury, plenitude and excess; on the other, the culture of poverty, the scarcity of everything, the fear of what tomorrow may bring, an empty stomach, and lack of opportunities and prospects. The huge gap between these two worlds is the most important and most dramatic border dividing our planet today.
