A visit to Soweto near Johannesburg makes it painfully clear that nowadays people inhabiting our planet are living in two completely different worlds. On the one hand, the culture of consumerism and, therefore, of luxury, plenitude and excess; on the other, the culture of poverty, the scarcity of everything, the fear of what tomorrow may bring, an empty stomach, and lack of opportunities and prospects. The huge gap between these two worlds is the most important and most dramatic border dividing our planet today.

When someone is hungry ... this is not a lack of food, this is the lack of justice
Over the past 5 years more people died of hunger than were killed as a result of wars, revolutions and murders for over the past 150 years. Every minute 76 human beings, including 57 children die as a result of hunger or malnutrition. According to data presented by FAO 945 million people suffered from chronic hunger in 2010.
To cover the unmet needs of the world in terms of food, just $13 billion is needed - as much as people in the US and the European Union spend on perfume each year.
