Baños is an amazing beautiful town surrounded by cloud forest, very lush, which means very wet, like most on of the Andes so far! Here we biked a 25km waterfall route, where there were loads of cable cars across the river canyon and also ziplines. Damian did the zipline and I offered to take the photo! Unfortunately he went a bit fast and i missed him, so you can see a picture of the wire or him in the distance! The zipwire was 1km over the river, which must have been half a km down! It didn,t look very secure so I didn,t fancy it.
Lots of walks here where the plants are stunning, flowers everywhere. The local volcano, Tungurahua, which overshaddows the town had sealed off and the whole thing is now deforming apparently. This bothered me a lot, as the seismology websites were discussing if it was going to blow like Mount St Helens in the 1980s. Damian was not bothered in the slightest, but I made us pack everything everyt night incase of an evacuation (much to Damian,s amusement). There were evacuation signs on every street corner and the tourist maps, but this erruption, if it happens is more likely to wipe out the town. We (I) decided we were going to leave early and go to Cuenca instead.
Before we left Damian chucked himself down a load of waterfalls in a Canyoning morning as well, which he loved.
