Last night I met some Peruvian filmmakers, after Christian (Diana's couchsurfing host) invited me to go and see a short 20 minute film called Un Mundo Sin Colores (A World Without Colours). It was about racism between the people of Lima from different economic status'.
Although I could barely understand a sentence spoken throughout the film as it was all in Spanish, I understood how important the issue raised was... human rights.
I exchanged my datails with the filmakers, and spoke about my project Nomadic Hands ( www.nomadichands.com ), with Christian kindly translating for me. I would love to get them in contact with Carmen Gomez, so that they can help to share her stories with the world through documentaries.
It has been difficult to get in contact with Carmen, as she had been out of town at a seminar, but hopefully she will be back in Lima within the next few days. If not, I will have to push on to Cusco to an orphanage, and then to Bolivia to meet with other volunteers. I may have to visit her on my way back through Lima as I head up to Huaraz.
