The Walls leading to the Coliseum
My Italian adventure this year included Florence, Venice and Rome! We flew from Raleigh, NC to Florence Italy via Newark and Germany. What an adventure. While in Florence which was our first stop we toured the museum, climbed 465 steps up through an incredible church dome, saw the fabulous statue of David, visited a factory to see Mosaic being made as well as leather and silver goods. The trip to Venice was amazing as we saw the country side and stoppped at the truck/bus stops which were very nice. We went to the Murano glass factory in Venice, saw the gondoleers, had wonderful Hot chocolate and toured another cathedral. The third part of the trip included a stop in Assisi on the way to Rome. In Assisi we toured the Basillica of St. Frances of Assisi and ate lunch in some of the nearby shops. We also visited a pottery shop where we were treated to a demonstration of the pottery making process, a wine, olive oil and chocolate tasting as well. I won the drawing and walked away with three beautiful pieces of pottery. Rome was incredible as we say so much: The Vatican City, The Sistine Chapel, The Coliseum, The Ruins, The Trevi fountain, The Spanish Steps, and more! So much to see and do on my Italian adventure. Of course I did some shopping and a little research. Couldn't help myself :-).
