Spring break in Ireland

So, I decided to go to Ireland for spring break and use up some airline miles. I had no idea what to expect but it was always one of those places that I wanted to visit so I took the advantage and went for spring break. I flew to Dublin Ireland for spring break . It was a week of meeting new people end seeing great places including the Guinness brewhouse on James Street on St. Patty's day eve for the first day of the St. Patrick's day festival. It was an awesome day. Music , food, beer, tours and shopping. I took a day out in the country to Kilkenny Castle , Wicklow Gap, to Glendalough. I stumbled upon a exhibit of decorated artificial rabbits called "Hares on March" and it was amazing . The food was awesome some of my favorite pub foods included Irish coffee, sweet potato curry, and of course Guinness . Some of the sites that I also visited were Stephen's Greens park, Dublin Castle , Trinity College , and I walked over the Hapenny bridge. Here are some of the pictures. Enjoy them.

Sightseeing in Sydney

I traveled to Sydney Australia in at the end of January for a conference at which I was one of numerous global scholars presenting papers on various research topics in Health and Well Being. It was an incredible opportunity to meet people who are doing interesting work in health and social research from all over the world. Sydney was a great place to visit and reminded me a bit of London. It was a big city with lots of energy and some of those iconic sights. The weather was great - summer time there. I attended a performance of the symphony at the world famous Sydney Opera House which was awesome! There are numerous pictures from my trip that I hope you'll enjoy viewing. Feel free to share your comments. I already know that I have to go back for much longer when I'm not working :-). One week was definitely not enough.

My European adventure

This adventure took me to Prague, Germany (Berlin, Cologne, Dusseldorf, Rasefeld) and Amsterdam. It was a fascinating experience as I toured historical sites, rode the rails, and met great people who opened their homes to me as a guest and a friend. It was fantastic. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

My Italian adventure

My Italian adventure this year included Florence, Venice and Rome! We flew from Raleigh, NC to Florence Italy via Newark and Germany. What an adventure. While in Florence which was our first stop we toured the museum, climbed 465 steps up through an incredible church dome, saw the fabulous statue of David, visited a factory to see Mosaic being made as well as leather and silver goods. The trip to Venice was amazing as we saw the country side and stoppped at the truck/bus stops which were very nice. We went to the Murano glass factory in Venice, saw the gondoleers, had wonderful Hot chocolate and toured another cathedral. The third part of the trip included a stop in Assisi on the way to Rome. In Assisi we toured the Basillica of St. Frances of Assisi and ate lunch in some of the nearby shops. We also visited a pottery shop where we were treated to a demonstration of the pottery making process, a wine, olive oil and chocolate tasting as well. I won the drawing and walked away with three beautiful pieces of pottery. Rome was incredible as we say so much: The Vatican City, The Sistine Chapel, The Coliseum, The Ruins, The Trevi fountain, The Spanish Steps, and more! So much to see and do on my Italian adventure. Of course I did some shopping and a little research. Couldn't help myself :-).
