The Principals at Lake Louise

The Principals at Lake Louise

Rosie and Aidan plucked us from the airport in the dark at 6.00 am and took us home, in downtown Vamcouver. Yasuko and Rosie did a bit of shopping and we all had a walk downtown.  Saw a funny event called the "Zombie-Walk" but we didn't join in. Rosie cooked us dinner and we all had an early night.

Off to Whistler in the morning, site of the 2010 Winter Olympics. Beautiful place and pleasant village, but it was cloudy and -1 degree at the top, so we didn't go up.

Then Vancouver Island and Vicoria the Provincial Capital by ferry (1.5 hours).  Rosie drove us and we saw some beautiful scenery and flowers and stately homes, including a castle (see photos). Back home to Rosie & Aidan's comfy apartment and dinner at a great restaurant before taking off for Banffff and the ROCKIES.

Aidan kindly loaned out Rosie as our driver and looked after himself whilst we were away on the 2-day trip. The scenery enroute was superb and we stayed overnight in a town called Revelstoke by a fast-flowing mountain stream.

Next day over the border into Alberta to Lake Louise and Banfff. Still a bit of snow on the northern slopes at the lake. Did a bit of shopping and sightseeing and stayed at Canmore a little way down the road (probably nicer than Banfff).  Dove back home (to Vancouver) by a different route and hit some heavy traffic b4 we got home. Rosie let me have a left-handed practice and it wasn't too hard.

The ROCKIES were magnificent - unforgettable views.

Had a walk around Vancouver b4 we left and bought some Sockeye salmon which Rosie cooked for us.  Delicious.

Flew out for Buffalo and Niagara Falls on Sunday 2nd Sept. again in the dark at 6.00 am. Thanx to Aidan & Rosie for getting up so early.
