My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I love climbing mountains. Most people ask me, “Why bother when you have to come down anyways?” Truth is - the uncertainty that comes with the journey makes me more aware, responsible and more determined to go the distance. With every step forward, with every memory I create, I learn something new. On most days, I am just humbled by what I see and all that I am yet to discover. This is why I climb, this is why I travel and this is why I choose to explore the unexplored.
My love affair with the camera began in the Himalayas when I was 16. The camera unwittingly became a companion I could turn to when I stepped into another’s world. What started out as a need to merely record experiences soon led to an abiding love in stories – telling them and discovering new ones. The encounters with my camera have also become an exercise in self-awareness; photography helps me look beyond stereotypes, even draw closer to places, its people and seek out lasting memories.
The scholarship with a mentor like Jason would give me a unique opportunity to take forth my interest in documentary photography and learn from the best. The nature of the journey in Greenland only makes it more exciting for me!
