A bit of colour on a damp day!

NETHERLANDS | Tuesday, 17 April 2012 | Views [444]

I spent a lovely couple of days in Ghent and will return at another time as it was better than Brugge, Cheaper and not so many tourists!

From Belguin it is only a skip and a jump plus €6 for a toll to the Nederlands and my first stop near to the Keurkenhof Gardens. The campsite is just below sea level at about -2metres. Fortunately there are a few windmills around that were built to drain the land I'm sure you all know what a windmil looks like, well there arn't like you think, every one of them is different and if you do as I did, and ask one of the locals, you will get the full history of them all!!

For those who have been I'll keep this brief, but the Keurkenhof gardens are well worth a visit 35 acres of gardens all dedicated to Spring blooms. It's only open for 60 days a year and boy do they pack them in during this brief time. There must have been 100 coaches here today and yet the place was strangely quiet, although wherever I went there was a group of French in the B------ way!!! enjoy the flowers!!
