I was aske so many times, that I was beginning to ask myself why I was going to Viedma.
An 11 hour bus journey by a very comfortable coach brought me to this remarkable uninteresting town. After a coffee I crossed the river by a rather overloaded ferry to Carment del Patagonia which was a nicer town with colonial buildings and a unique bridge where road and rail share the deck!
The reason I came here is to join a train that goes from the Atlantic coast accross to the Lake district of Argentina by the Chilian Border som 900 kms away. Fantastic trip. the train may be old but it was clean and rode the rails well and the views were stunning. A single cabin, a proper bed with clean sheets cost less than £40 for the journey. Take that British Rail! The problem, 900Kms at less than 30mph takes 18 hours, fortunately I'm in no hurry.
I'm in the town of Bariloche now for a few days. so more in the next couple of days.
Chow!
