Christ The Redeemer

UNITED KINGDOM | Monday, 15 February 2010 | Views [415] | Comments [1]

Ok so I still have that silly grin, but so do most of the people around me.

The trip up Corcovada Mountain to the statue of Christ the Redeemer was the highlight of the day. The views are amazing and it really is exciting to at a world recognised sight. I saw what everyone who has ever seen any publicity of Brazil and Rio.

The 360 degree panoramic views have to be seen to be believed. Laid out before me were the famous beeches of Copacabana, Ipanema and of course Sugar Loaf Mountain.

The image is fantastic but reality is a little different.  I had to wait in line for nearly three hours to get onto the train, and the view of the statue had to be “stage managed “to get the other 3000 tourists, who were all trying to get just the right picture, out of the way!

Would I do it again or recommend that you do? Of course I would it was a fantastic experience.

Just one thought though, Lisbon also has a matching statue, But it’s nothing compared to the real thing!!

well done Pete! Rio sounds just like downtown Adlingfleet then, only without the big statue - probably couldn't get planning. Its tried to snow here today and is 1 deg outside, enjoy that heat and don't u dare complain! Harri enjoyed Madrid and we are now on half term week off - yeah. Liking the blogs, keep it up and stay safe.
