BACK TO REALITY

THAILAND | Saturday, 16 February 2008 | Views [540] | Comments [1]

Sad it may seem ... but no retirement yet as there is a whole world out there to be enjoyed . Siboya was amazing . A small village style place with individual bungalows set just a small stumble back friom the ocean . Very remote , about an hours slow drive down the coast off the beaten track , a short boatride to the island followed by a ride on the back of a ute to the other side of the island . 2 hours later it seemed you were in the middle of butt-fuck-nowhere ... and if you ask me , its a bruddy great place to be when the food was as good as it was . Lots of fresh fruit and veges spread through a menu that was roughly 30 pages long . And most were thai specialtys too . On the first night i tucked into some barracuda which was soaked in a coconut milk curry and then steamed in banana leaf, bruddy good tucka ! Was a great place to chill for a couple of days and soak up some serious beach time when our own hut only set us back $15 a night . The only thing that seemed to move on the island was the tide ... and it was probably the noisiest on the island too . A world away from anywhere really . Walking along the beach you come across a family of about 20 monkeys and even a decent sized snake to cross your path . A place that would be well worth a visit in the next couple of years as they are due to get power to the island some time beyond 2010 .

So ... back in Krabi for the night and then off to the island Ko Phi Phi tomorrow and then on to Phuket for a couple of days after that . As i am sure you can imagine life is so so sweet right now and every day seems to present itself as yet another blessing .

I hope you are all smiling and that life is smiling on you too . Keep your eye out for some more photos soon too .

Big love from you know who !

Hi there Paul

Sounds like your having a great time and that is what it's all about. Love hearing you stories and keeping updated. Is a place of the world I would love to visit one day. Not much happening at work since you've gone, except that we have added some more European flavour in the workplace via some wait staff. Arturo is still angry and Amanda is still experiencing some hearing difficulties. Oh and she did tip the gelati freezer over onto the pavers, which required 4 guys and herself to lift it back into place.

My trip was good but short. A great time was had by all my family and deffinetly helped put some closure on the situation.

Enjoy your time trekking the world and miss seeing your scooter parked out the back.

Ciao David
