Hmmm.. Chocolate

CANADA | Wednesday, 23 April 2008 | Views [471]

So last night we made REAL chocolate. From the actual bean. We were told the whole process from the fermenation period to the actual grinding of the bean. It's sooo good and yes bitter because your getting 100% cocoa. It's also all organic the stuff we got. At the end of the whole thing we made the traditional chocolate drink (hot cocoa) which you can add sugar/milk. I tried both and prefer just the sugar. Tastes like my hot dark chocolate mix from coco comindo but only better.

I do not think i mentioned why i brought rubber boots here. Well sure i'm staying in the rainforest so things will get muddy..that's what I thought, no the real reason they tell me..snakes...yep lots of poisonious snakes here. Yay, haven't seen any just in the jars.

Last weekend a group came up, two of them were bird scientist (forgot what that world is for them), an historian, and an archaeologist. They spoke some english so I finally had some conversation. It's also the time of the bird migration here for the birds of prey. We got to see Penegrin Falcons (4 of them) perch up in the tree for the night. It was the first time they've seen that many at once at Kekoldi. So it was a treat. Most of the birds i've seen have been parrots but now it's either a falcon/hawk or vulture. I was told that Kekoldi is one of the worlds best places to see the hawk migration at one time they counted about 200 000 birds. Not sure how they counted but that's what the man told me.

I woke up today with a weird toe. My second toe on myleft foot is all red and swollen. I think it has a bite on it but I can't seem to find where, I just can't really put too much pressure on that particular foot. Ugh i'm getting itchy again. I wore shorts last night and bad idea i think i got  5 more bites. no one understands how I keep using deet and it doesn't do squat for me. They love asian skin perhaps. Did i mention I saw asian ppl? like chinese people in BriBri? Well I did, and they kept staring at me.

Before heading into town I went to the Iguana farm that is near me (kind of). Very interesting, they are ugly creatures but interesting non the less. They also had these huge turkeys (oh man now that's ugly) I got some pictures of that. They kept following me they're known to do that and just surround you. well these ones are.

Anyways i believe that's it for now. adios/ciao
