Bus!

Bus!

Our time in Puerto Natales was mostly reading books, knitting a new hat(this time out of rainbow colored alpaca wool)and studying some spanish. In the end we probably could have hitch hiked out of here, because I did not realize how long the 5 days we were would actually feel.

The grocery store here is full of sweets, and the bakery they have has many large cookies, eclairs, and cholocate covered multi story cookies filled with dulce de leche! We mostly save our money buy getting pasta, sauce meat, hamburgers, and other cheap food. The nice thing about staying here, was that our budget dropped alot per day, because of all the traveling we were doing. busses are expensive here.

Today we are catching the bus to Punta Arenas, for one night, and then in the morning we will catch our bus to Puerto Montt. We will then try to make our way to santiago, with much haste, since the temperature down here is too darn cold. And it is so windy. Not much more to report, but we might be out of contact for a few days, given the bus ride is 30 hours!

It was good to hear from you! I know you must be bored after having been so busy and active for so long. Rest is good! I'd love a rainbow alpaca wool hat knitted by you for my birthday! You know it's next month, right? You know I'll be 50, right? You could get it in the mail in the next few days and it could be here on time! Oma left last night. Zoe is with us now. The kitchen is done, just the painting is left to do. We're having yet another snow storm tomorrow - Snow day #3! I printed one of your blogs and gave it to Mrs. Engelman. She was very impressed. Miss you terribly! Do you miss Hawaii? Love, Mommy

After reading what you mom wrote, I would like you to know that i also have a birthday coming up in June and I would love a hat, too! :) Actually, I hope you will be able to teach us how to make those hats at The Lots , this summer.
It is a good thing I didn't get stuck in that town with you because I would love all of the pastries and my cost of lving would go up? Did you like them?
So are all three of you conversing in Spanish together? I bet it is pretty fun.\It snowed again last night...but at least the sun came out...first in two or so weeks.
Good luck in finding a cheap bus.
Love, Aunt Pat

Hi Laina, Nick! Your blogs are fantastic. Lucy tells me that you are on your way to Bolivia. My old nanny, Teresa, lives in Cochabamba and I'm sure she would love to meet you Laina (you too Nick). She always knew I was adopted and would be so excited to see my little sister who looks like me. Email me if you want her address and phone number. She's probably about 76 years old now. Have to go to work now-stay traveling a long as possible! Lisa

Hi guys, Been a little while since I "blogged". Fun to see Lisa's note about her nanny...you should try and do that..still working on our trip..looking more like Ecuador and northern Peru the last 10 days of April and into May..more later on that. Nick, your w2 arrived and as soon as Laina's is here I will get your taxes filed so you can get your refunds..I can't imagine there will be much to it..might do it online as it is supposed to be free..right ..sure. Anyway I love you Laina (and Nick and Corey) send me an email when you can or call..keep being smart and safe! Dad.
