    Water monitor lizards are common throughout Borneo, especially in riverside areas. Not quite as large as their Komodo cousins , they often reach 1.5 meters in length and 25kg in weight. Many jungle animals, big and small are active at night and the air is filled with the chorus of a million voices. Proboscis monkeys are sociable and playful, living in large groups of several families. Their shrills fill the air around the riverbanks in the Sungai Kinabatangan, especially in the afternoon. They are most active at sunset. They are often found fishing over rivers.
