A couple walk along Rialto Beach early in the morning on a cold fall day. Fog obscures the distant land and sea.

It is quite amazing what time, wind, and water are able to create.
This place is known as 'Hole in the wall' and is a 1 mile hike down Rialto Beach on the Pacific Coast of Washington State. At low tide it is possible to walk through it but at high tide it is pounded by waves.

A sea stack on Rialto Beach. A tree grows on top unfettered by the pounding waves, but battered by wind and without much nutrients. Gulls and other seabirds make their nests atop these stacks.
