My Scholarship entry - In Search of Serenity

My whole life I have had a deep admiration for the natural world. Nature never ceases to amaze me with her beauty. However, a widespread anthropocentric view of our world has led to destruction and disregard of our natural world which is not only unethical but also unnecessary. Our time is running out in order to preserve the biological and natural diversity that makes this planet so incredible.
This is where photography comes in. I have always enjoyed photography and I feel that I could make a difference and strive to change public perception and mindset through images that convey not only this inherent natural beauty but also the importance of maintaining an overwhelmingly interconnected system. I hope to one day make environmental photography my career and highlight the ongoing struggles and successes from every corner of the globe.
The Greenland scholarship with Jason Edwards would put me well on my way to making that dream a reality. I know that if I am chosen for this scholarship I will be able to not only build on photographic expertise and storytelling but also gain the necessary exposure to take the next steps toward my dream.
