You'd think a couple of rums and a late meal would send you into a deep, satisfying sleep. Well, it did. So imagine my rude awakening to a loud speaker close by singing who-knows-what at the crack of dawn! There's a small community school behind the cabanas with probably no more than a few dozen kids, so why they felt the need to turn up the amp to 11 for their dawn 'service' beats me! Hehe. And it's not even Sunday!
Anyway, a walk on the beach and another fruit breakfast was good medicine. Even so, an unsettled stomach wearied me, so after a lie in the sun and a cooling swim or two, I headed back to the cabana for a snooze. I haven't figured out what exactly is upsetting me, maybe the fruit, maybe the ice blocks, so the plan is to avoid both to see if it makes any difference.
It's times when you're in a foreign country and not feeling 100% that your mettle is tested. I'm fortunate this time that i'm not bound by a rigid itinerary like I have been on previous trips, so doing nothing for a day is ok. Still, it knocks your confidence, and even simple language translations become harder, and you feel even more like a gringo, hehe.
I caught up with Bambo later in the evening. He knows a couple of musos here so the plan is to have a jam at some stage - probably tomorrow. Now that should be cool, and even better if we can find a bass, because music is one language we can all speak! Hehe.
