As I work on my final preparations for my South American/Antarctic journey, I ask myself...."How do you prepare for this unknown....this cold....this desolation....this adventure"? Well, keeping my house at the mild temp of 52 degrees is a start ( I never think it FEELS that cold, but my friends all complain~some requesting that I turn it up before coming for dinner). Mo said I needed to get wet and THEN run around my cold house....or better yet, run around outside with a brisk breeze blowing! I guess I won't be preparing THAT thoroughly (but at least she got a good laugh out of the idea)!
Packing is another part of the pre-adventure. I have always prided myself on fitting everything in a carry on. I know the people in the plane HATE it as I wrestle my bag into the overhead bin, but luggage can't be lost if it isn't out of my possession. Well, that isn't the case this time. I have the extra large duffle bag PLUS a backpack....I'm not proud of it, but how else do you carry all the essentials for tango lessons (yes, even the felt-bottomed shoes), walking around Buenos Aires in the summer, warm waterproof clothes for Antarctica, and backpacking stuff?! This preparation has been an adventure all by itself!
Wish me luck in staying warm and finding my luggage as it rounds the carousels!
