A billion dollars of cement and limestone: The Beirut New Waterfront

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I am a professional performing artist - a classical musician - who’s been living in Beirut for the past 5 years. But at crossroads in life I’ve come to acknowledge to myself that my true profession is that of an explorer: a lover of life in its rawest expression.
Recently I quit my professional job in the orchestra to give myself fully to personal projects and an artistic pursuit I can best describe as follows: life is in the gaze of the observer; the more unconditioned the gaze the more vibrant is its life. This is also my intuition when holding a camera - as an explorer of this happening, every unfolding moment, which, I also know is never separate from the photographer.
I’m eager to learn to become more actively communicative with my surrounding and grounded with my gear and technical aspects of photography through this scholarship and travel with Jason Edwards. I also take great pleasure in connecting to someone else’s work and enjoy very much the learning process involved, though I like being independent in my personal work.
Last but not least, the beauty in rawness of a place and culture like that of Oman seem to be the ideal happening to encounter in my endeavor.
