Set off for Coogee Beach today. I was glad to leave Maitland. I didn't really find there was that much to do and was getting quite bored. I feel really excited now about starting the next stage of my trip.
I fall in love with Coogee instantly and it's chilled out, laid back atmosphere. The place has a really good feel about it. The beach is gorgeous and I eventually manage to get in the sea. What I didn't realise however, is that when those massive waves come towards you, you're supposed to either dive over them or under them. It took me being picked up and dumped on the shore I'd say around three times (much to the amusement of a group of teenagers standing near by, naturally), before I realised what to do.
There are lots of nice deli shops, which do some great, cheap, vegetarian food, which I'm quite pleased about. Coogee has a really good bus network and you can get into Sydney in 30 minutes which is fab. I can't quite believe that you can be at this lovely beach town or whatever you want to call it and then get a bus into the city within 30 minutes.
We walk to Bondi beach which takes about an hour. Pass through Gordon's Bay, Bronte and Clovelly. Stunning views over the cliffs out to the sea. Feel shattered by the time we get to Bondi, it's quite a tough walk. Was quite disappointed with Bondi, didn't like it as much as Coogee, but it was still good to go and have a look around.
