Trekking and Traveling

Cuzco

PERU | Friday, 6 November 2009 | Views [403]

Ok, so we caught a bus from Lima to Cuzco.  It took 21 hours.  The bus was o.k and we even played bingo on the way (go figure).  We arrived in Cuzco at around 11 am but the altitude realy hit us and we spent most of the day just laying about the hotel.  Cuzco is a crazy place and compared with the rest of Peru it is quite expensive (about $6 each for dinner).  We spent most of the week organizing our trek and resting to get over the altitude sickness.  The altitude sickness realy knocked Lee - Ann for six but she recovered just in time for our trek.  We went to a few local markets and museums but the walking up and down steps (more so the up) takes it out of you. The showers in our hotel have been a bit cold, so we won´t stay here when we come back.  Any way the next time you hear from us we will be finished our trek through the Andes and the Inca ruins at Choquequirau and the lost city of Machu Picchu.
