Hawaii

Well, this is it, our final night of this trip. We can't wait to get home and tell you all about it. We have had the most amazing time, seen some of the most amazing sights and done some of the most amazing things. But it will probably be the people we have met that will stick in my mind. We have traveled from the Amazon jungle of Peru down through the Andes mountains, across the border into Bolivia and then into Chile. Continuing on we made our way down to Cape Horn, Argentina and the end of the world. We then headed to Easter Island the last stop on the South American leg of our trip. We flew into a cold and white Christmas in New York. We drove from Los Angeles up the coast to San Francisco and down through Yosemite National Park then across to the Grand Canyon and Las Veges before heading back to L.A and on to Hawaii for the last leg of our trip. Hawaii is a beautiful place and so relaxing after such a long trip. We thank you for taking the time to read about our trip and I hope some of our photos have inspired some of you to get out there and see the world. Good luck and we'll see you all when we get back.

Les.

Los Angeles

Well let me just say that Los Angeles is big, bold and full of crazy people. We stayed in Hollywood and visited all the tourist traps. We spent time at the beach and walked along the Santa Monica Pier. We also did a day trip down through San Diago and across the border into Tijuana, Mexico. We went out to Orange County and visited Disneyland. Los Angeles was O.K but not on top of my list of places to return to. Lee - Ann and I both agree that while Los Angeles is a place you must come and see, it is not a place you need to come back to.

Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon.

Oh my god, the Grand Canyon was the most amazing thing we almost didn't get to see. The first day we were there it was snowing so heavily that you literally couldn't see a few feet in front of you, but the next day the weather held off just enough for us to get a look and it was well worth it. This is one place I really want to come back to (just take a look at the photo's). After the beauty of the Grand Canyon we headed off to Las Vegas. I'd tell you about Vegas but you know what they say, "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas". Just watch the movie "The Hangover" and you'll get the picture. Anyway were heading back to L.A now and getting ready for the last stop on our trip, Hawaii. See Ya. Les.

Yosemite National Park.

Well when we arrived in the Yosemite National Park there was snow on the ground but the weather looked pretty good and and it wasn't too cold. But that changed on the third day we were there when the snow moved in. Having said that, it was fantastic and the scenery was second to none. We went hiking and got snowed on, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. Lee - Ann and I had a snow fight that turned ugly when she used her walking stick instead of snow and while the weather was a bit of an issue, we had a ball. We are now off to the Grand Canyon and then Las Vegas. Les

San Francisco

Well, after a 3 day drive up from L.A, along the pacific coast we arrived in San Francisco. San Francisco is truly a fantastic place. With icons such as China town, the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz just to name a few it really is one of my favorite places to visit. The streets are so steep that exercise is the name of the game (unless you ride the trolley car). We visited Alcatraz and Lee - Ann took a liking to Robert Stroud the Birdman. Our accommodation was in the area known as North Beach, which is by the way no where near the beach. Anyway we are now off to Yosemite National Park. Talk soon. Les.

New York

Hi everyone. Sorry it's been a while since I last wrote something here. We have been very busy and have had a little trouble finding a computer. Any way we have conquered the "big apple", well.... almost. The weather was absolutely freezing. It snowed on the third day we were there and it did'nt get above 2 degrees for our whole stay. The cold aside, it was one of the best experiences we've had on this trip. We got to a Jets game and hung out with celebs at a Knicks game. We visited all the iconic landmarks that make New York famous and basically had a ball of a time over the Christmas period. The shopping was amazing and I think we probably spent a little bit too much, but what the heck.... you only live once. If you haven't been to New York, then what are you waiting for come on over already. We are now off to L.A. Talk soon. Les.

Easter Island

Well this is it, our last stop in Sout America. Easter Island was a nightmare to get to, but well worth it in the end. The statues (Moai)were awesome, but eerie at the same time. Lee - Ann tried to put one in her luggage but it wouldn´t fit (no souvenir for you Mick). Anyway we leave for New York tonight. It will be a little bit sad leaving South America but after being in a country where you don´t speak the language for so long it will be good to speak some English again. Talk soon from the U.S.A.

Ushuaia Argentina

Well, we made it. From the heat of the northern tropical jungle in Peru to the cold of Cape Horn Argentina. It has taken us 9 weeks to get here and the trip has been fantastic so far. Ushuaia is no exception. What a truely magical place. The history of the sailing ships lost in the treturous waters, along with the beautiful scenery, makes this one of the few places I would come back to. Many people come here to catch one of the ships to Antarctica and I guess that is something I would love to do in the future but for now Ushuaia will have to do. Lee - Ann got to see snow for the first time and she was as happy as a pig in mud. She thought it would be funny to pelt me with snowballs too. We took a boat out into the Beagle Channel and saw some Penguins and Sea Lions (It was freezing). Anyway we are now off to Easter Island, the last stop on the South American part of our trip. Talk soon.

Les

Santiago Chile

Well we have reached the 3rd country on our trip, Chile. Santiago is by far the most cosmopolitan city we have encoutered so far and the traffic isn´t as crazy as Peru or Bolivia. We went to a local game of football and it was an experience to say the least. We also went to the races and lost our money on the punt (what´s new) and the following day went on a wine taisting day trip and then on to the mountain border of Argentina. We have also done a bit of shopping, as Santiago seems to have more shops than people. Anyway we are now off to Ushuaia, Argentina, Cape Horn (the bottom of the world) for the last leg of our mainland South America journey before we head across to Easter Island and then the the U.S.A. Talk soon from Argentina.

Les

Hi everyone. Well we are now in La Paz Bolivia, after almost 2 hours trying to get across the border. La Paz is the highest capitol city in the world and the hills are a killer to walk up. Bolivia is pretty cheap and the food is pretty good. I went down the worlds most dangerous road, nicknamed the Death Road because of the amount of people killed on it. I went down it on a mountain bike with a local adventure company. Lee - Ann was too scared to go and so she spent the day shopping. La Paz has been ok but we are now looking forward to Chile. Hope you are all doing ok. Talk soon. Les.
