My Photo scholarship 2010 entry
Libya | Sunday, October 17, 2010 | 5 photos
The photos I have submitted for the World Nomads Travel Photography Scholarship 2010 present a dimension of Libya’s history and landscape that I have experienced while driving on an alternate route to a small country town in the eastern region of the country. I have chosen these photos to share (i) the highlights of the place I have visited, (ii) how human beings associate or tie our history and culture to a specific place or a feature in a geographic region, and (iii) how development may hinder or promote the experience or appreciation of a place along with its history and culture.
I should be chosen for the scholarship because I am curious about the world and I am seriously keen for the opportunity.
I am curious about the world and the richness of experience it has to offer. I see travel photography as an avenue to satisfy this curiosity given that the world is experience first hand when travelling and that there is an opportunity to capture and share part of this experience through photography. I enjoy the process involved in travel photography – from preparation, to shooting on location, to telling a story through photographs.
I am seriously keen for the opportunity to learn and further my photography. I started photography as a hobby in mid-2008 and have done a bit of travel around the Middle East, some parts of Southeast Asia and within Australia since then. I am always excited to go on a trip not only because of the new things I get to see and experience but also the opportunity to practice, learn and improve my skills as a photographer. I go hard on the field, exhaust my shooting options and explore the limits of my equipment to get the better shot.
