Burgers, Fries and Visa to Go

CAMBODIA | Tuesday, 3 July 2007 | Views [963]

One of our primary reasons for coming to Sihanoukville was to get our Vietnamese visa. Apparently this is one of the two places in Cambodia, and one of the two places in the world, where you can get your visa at the low cost of $35 USD, in a record 15 minutes. This was important for us, as Vietnam requires that you organize your visa in advance of crossing a border (land or airport). We had opted not to wait the three to five days in Vientiane, Laos for the embassy there to process ours at the cost of $60 USD each. We figured the small beach town would be a far more pleasant way to pass the time getting a visa. We definitely made the right decision. A two minute tuk-tuk ride to the embassy, and 15 minutes later, we had our visas in hand. It was like going through the drive through at McDonald's, two orders of visas to go please, and out they come, piping hot, in record speed.
