Blessed Beer

Blessed Beer

New Norcia! Where else can you meet a monk, swill a delightfully pleasant Belgian tasting beer blessed by God, learn about how some Spaniard's brought religion to the Australian outback, discover that the stolen generation wasn't such a great idea after all, and eat bread cooked from the oldest bakery within the only Monastic town in Australia?

Dom Paulino is the head Monk of New Norcia and is 98 years old.  He currently resides  in a Perth nursing home 150km's away sipping soup through a straw, but his legacy continues through New Norcia: an eclectic mix of worship, tourism, and many stories that only the walls could tell.

When monks aren't meditating at one of their eight sessions of worship throughout the day, they generally play hide and seek in their spair time, so do not be dissapointed if you don't see any robed Spaniards wandering the Monestary.  Just pay attention to movement out of the corner of your eye.

Pax out everyone.
