The people here in New Zeland are the nicest I have met in the world. When Jeanna and I are standing on the street with a map someone always approaches us and directs us where to go. One day we were walking in the rain and a man stopped picked us up and drove us to the library. He told us his two kids were travelling the world too. People here smile when you walk by them and many have brought us into their homes, given us beds, food, and even a car to use throughout the duration of our stay.
During our road trip north we stopped at an incredibly inspiring art gallery in the forest. There we met John and Robyn who causally gave us their business card and said to give them a call when we're in town. So after dropping off our rental car we decided to call them before all going our seperate ways with the use of our thumbs the following morning.
We figured we'd have a yard to pitch our tents in for the night and that if we were lucky we'd be able to use their toilet.
Yet John and Robyn welcomed all 7 of us in as family. They gave us bedrooms, fed and enertained us for 3 days in their beautiful house on the ocean. The night before we left they told us they wanted to give us their car for our time here and that we could have Christmas with their family and return it before we leave. John also connected us with an asparagus job which I am currently doing for a short tiem. John and Robyn's kindness leaves me overwhelmed, thankful and hopeful.
I'm starting to see more and more that there is more good in this world than bad. It brings peace and happiness to my soul to know that people in this world want to care for one another.
This undeserved kindness that has been given to me is planting all kinds of seeds in me to forever give it back to the people that wander into my life. It casts more light on a vision already born inside of me to have a home that is open to the world, the rich, the poor, the sick and the well. A place where people can come and be loved, renewed, healed; somewhere where one can find peace, rest and community.
WBLESSED to live in such a world.
