Day 67 - The Blue Hole

BELIZE | Saturday, 9 August 2014 | Views [240]

Up at 4.30am we were at Frenchies dive shop by 5.15am. Fueled up on cinnamon bread with peanut butter & black coffee we set off on the boat to the blue hole.

We had some nice divers in our group & the three dives we did were just fantastic.

At the Blue Hole we saw midnight parrot fish, loads of Caribbean reef sharks, Creole rass & Seargent Majors.

Then we stopped for lunch on half moon caye - literally a picnic in paradise.

On our second dive at Half Moon Wall we saw reef sharks, turtles, Moray eel, a Puffer fish, Rainbow fish & tiny little sand eels. Our final dive at the aquarium was not as spectacular but still beautiful.

The boat ride back was enhanced by free rum punch & watermelon pieces & set us up for sunset at the split once we returned to Caye Caulker.

We met our old & some new friends and then headed for our final dinner on the island at Wish Willy's. Sensibly Lindy went home after that but I continued to farewell the island until sunrise. It had to be done!
