Day 24 - Playa Ancon & Trinidad

CUBA | Friday, 20 June 2014 | Views [523]

We rode for about 40 minutes in the hot Cuban sun to Playa Ancon. It wasn't exactly the beach day we had longed for...

The beach was pretty average, dirty sand & murky water but hey it's still the Caribbean right?

We lazed for a while getting hassled by sandflies & the odd hussler. I tried to make the most of time in the water until I was sting by some jellyfish type stringy stinger that caused my leg to burn & swell. Not ideal :(

We canned the beach round lunchtime & rode home. It was freaking hot & when your bike has no gears & it's even slightly uphill with a headwind that does make you appreciate those finer things in life!

We be spent the avo wandering around the historic part of Trinidad & found an excellent bakery that made up for a not so excellent lunch. All was ok again apart from a strange stinger rash & a big of sunburn :)

We opted for a second dinner with the family are staying with & were treated with prawns & avacado (& beans- there is always beans!) tasty & homely all the same.

A nightcap mojito at a rooftop bar & that's us for the evening :)
