This particular type of scallop has a very minimal bacterial content , which makes it the only type to be accepted for export in the U.S. Gathering queen scallops is one of the most common sources of living of the fishermen. In Ilonggo dialect Fossils of the Gigantes (means giants) are being preserved in the caves of the island. According to folklore, giants used to live in these islands. And that's where the name Islas de Gigantes came from. Islas de Gigantes in Carles, Iloilo is one of the unchartered tourist destination in the Philippines.
