If I had to name one common obsession for Asia, it has to be food. People love their food here and with very good reasons to. Food in this continent is affordable, convenient, diverse and most importantly delicious!
Food is to Asia what history is to Europe, safari is to Africa, size/quantity is to the US and dance/party is to Latin America. I've made some huge generalisations in that statement, but basically, it's that one word or thing that comes first to mind about a place when it's mentioned. It's what the place has on offer - what's in abundance and what it does best, what locals are obsessed with and what drives visitors to go there for.
On a side note, I'm in Hong Kong - one of Asia's prime food meccas!
