My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

A wise man once said, a picture is worth a thousand words. A smile, a laugh, a cry, a moment, caught and frozen in time tells a beautiful story. Narrating such stories through the lens with no limit to creativity is what drives my fascination for photography and makes we want to come back again and again. Hi, I’m Jayant from Melbourne and here’s a little about me.
I realised my interest for photography four years ago while at the Sydney Aquarium. The dark environment forced me to ‘create’ a picture rather than ‘take’ a picture. “Can I capture the expression of the fascinated audience as a silhouette against the dimly lit shark enclosure?”, I thought to myself. Turns out that I had just taken a dive into the curiosity pool. The results gave me satisfaction like no other. I was immediately captivated and didn’t want to turn back.
This scholarship will test my skills, force me to push my boundaries and enable me to learn from the best. I will experience a day in the life of a professional photographer, the profession I aspire to pursue in the future. This truly is an opportunity of a lifetime for me and I would like to thank Nat Geo for considering me for this scholarship.
